Dean Sharples

Dean Sharples is an experienced electronics engineer and co-founder of AutoCoach, a Melbourne-based SportsTech company established in 2011. As Director of Engineering, he collaborates with industry leaders—including Olympic coaches—to design cutting-edge wireless training and racing systems tailored for swimming and other sports.

Under Dean’s leadership, AutoCoach developed pioneering solutions like the AutoCoach One, a wearable, personal interactive training device that automates repetitive coach-athlete tasks such as timing, starting, and data collection. The company’s systems deliver real-time performance metrics—stroke rate, velocity, distance per stroke—which were previously accessible only to sports scientists.
