Open Water Program Lead - Swimming Australia

Fernando Possenti is an accomplished swimming and open water coach, lecturer, and consultant with over 22 years of experience developing elite athletes, including Olympic champions. Currently the Swimming and Open Water Coach for the Brazilian Olympic Committee and Lead of SWIM Australia’s Open Water Program, Fernando has guided athletes to 14 World Aquatics Championship medals, multiple Pan American titles, and record-breaking performances, including Brazil’s best-ever women’s result at the Doha 2024 World Championships.

Recognised with multiple World Aquatics Coaching Achievement Awards and named Brazil’s Best Coach across all individual sports in 2018 and 2021, Fernando has worked with national teams across five continents and delivered over 20 international clinics in four languages. His leadership extends beyond competition, contributing to coach education, sports science research, and technical consultancy for aquatic organisations worldwide.
