Viki Kendrick

Viki Kendrick has been a swimming instructor and manager for more than 40 years, leasing and managing several council facilities during her career. Inspired early on by lifesaving and squad swimming, her passion for teaching grew after returning to Queensland and learning under the guidance of Gwen Wilford.

Viki has taught swimmers of all ages, believing that learning to swim is a gift for life. In 2018, she moved to the Sunshine Coast, working alongside Olympic coach Chris Mooney at Matthew Flinders Anglican College, and continues to work with Olympic swimmers Chris and Mel Wright.

A career highlight came in 2024 when she was named Winner for National SWIM Teacher of the Year, an honour she describes as unforgettable. For Viki, teaching swimming is more than a job—it is a lifelong passion dedicated to building confidence, safety, and respect for the water.
